Trek Ready Week 5: Let the Work Settle

Use the easier week as planned, notice how you recover, and avoid cramming in missed sessions.

Trek Ready Week 5: Why Doing Less Can Move You Forward

An easier week can feel suspicious when you have been training well. You may be tempted to fill the space with a heavier pack or a “quick” hill. This week has a job. Let it do it.

Training also leaves fatigue

The previous weeks asked your body to work. Week 5 reduces the planned load so you can recover and bring better quality to the next block. It is part of the progression, not a pause because you have failed.

Follow the sessions FITR gives you. Do not make up missed work by stacking extra days onto this week. A short, lighter spell does not erase the training you have done.

What should you notice?

  • Is ordinary soreness settling between sessions?

  • Can you move through the prescribed work with good control?

  • Do sleep and energy feel closer to normal?

One rough day happens. If several signs stay off, keep notes and adjust with a coach. If pain is sharp, worsening or changes how you walk, get appropriate assessment rather than pushing through it.

This week's action: Complete the easier week exactly as written. In FITR, note one sign of good recovery and one thing you may need to adjust before Week 6. There is no new tracker number to chase this week.

If life, travel or illness has disrupted the plan, use the Recovery & Adjustments guide. Then return to the Trek Ready Journey.
